We are inviting members of our community to participate in one or two upcoming co-design research events. The events are related to how people use or avoid using electronic banking and money tools. Each event is expected to take up to 7 hours. The honorarium for each event is $600 CAD
We have two upcoming co-research events and you can apply for one or both:

1. Collaborative Banking (participate in three online sessions)

2. Technology Reluctance (participate offline (on your own) or online)

Who are we seeking?

> We’re looking for individuals 18 years of age and older who give or receive help to make digital payments and use online banking or money management tools. Ideally, you will participate as pair and bring your banking collaborator with you. Each individual in the pair will receive an honorarium and each must fill out the application form.

> We’re also looking for individuals 18 years of age and older who are reluctant to use digital tools, especially for online banking, payments and money management.
If you are interested in being considered for either or both co-designs, please register by selecting the link: https://forms.office.com/r/dtmcLFhgGT
If you know someone who is reluctant to use technology, especially for using and managing money, please encourage or help them to apply. Selected co-researchers will not have to use computers or mobile devices to participate and can use paper or phone if preferred. Applicants for the technology reluctance co-design may use the online form or contact David Pereyra at 416-977-6000 x4672.
When will it happen?
Collaborative Banking co-researchers must be able to attend three sessions over three weeks, from 1:00-3:00 PM EST:

• Day 1: Tuesday, November 28, 2023

• Day 2: Tuesday, December 5, 2023

• Day 3: Tuesday, December 12, 2023
Technology reluctance co-researchers will participate over three weeks and are strongly encouraged to attend the first online session if possible. Access to a computer or mobile device is not required; you can mail your contributions or dictate them by phone. Weekly online sessions are from 1:00-3:00 PM EST:
Online participation:

• Day 1: Thursday, November 30, 2023

• Day 2: Thursday, December 7, 2023

• Day 3: Thursday, December 14, 2023
Offline Participation

• Instructions will be mailed or emailed to you

• Online participation on Day 1: Tuesday, November 28th is strongly encouraged

• All materials must be returned to David Pereyra by December 8th

What will you do?
For each codesign, your commitment will be:

• Prepare for the research by answering a few questions or a survey before getting started.

• Participate in three remote sessions over three weeks (sessions 2 and 3 are optional) or complete three activities depending on which co-design you are selected for.

• The total time commitment is expected to be seven hours.
We want to be inclusive, and if you are selected to participate, then you will be able to let us know on the application form if there is any support you need so that you can participate.
More about the co-research activities
In the Collaborative Banking group, we will first consider scenarios where people seek support for their banking activities (payment, managing money, etc.). Next, we will meet online and in small groups over three sessions, share our experiences and re-think those experiences to improve them. We will also spend one session thinking about how we share access to digital banking and payments.
In the Technology Reluctance group, we will prepare “letters” to digital technology that we use or interact with. We call this design method: Love letter/Break up letter/Compromise letter. Participants will be able to create their letters in the way that works best for them (free form in email, audio, video, paper or structured using helping questions).

Please share this invitation with anyone that you think would be interested, especially individuals who are reluctant to use technology and may not see this email.
Applications must be received before Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
Regards,
David Pereyra
