Dear Colleagues,
The Master of Museum Studies (MMSt)<https://ischool-utoronto-csm.symplicity.com/track/tl=I2WoztIUcyOaULOI7-zQZIsKpOZr9BkLO_oAG0TDxuIYB5XN-8fhgxKSxf4Q8yITDgpMeGgXt4nZtb35fihPqU1YHgKKkfCgzYtaE7u0BlimOwDHfinH0Ks2yWa0vOmVJqxXneHyKYgWEjKVDNItYY-dQaj5Vr7ldrCHZ93cWlpJ9ste3AMnt3xCiqgtMT0FRuuv5foQS5vexTEoz5id8j4zTLD0Po1OH30OI_g1Utv-CowyWHjy8O1tiQ6zHyyQdcNxWZVhMYy45l7HP3iQ63rOOfA-TVHClVu903BkjUP9l2hFDkFhCA,,> at the University of Toronto invites you to submit a proposal to collaborate with our students in the Capstone Projects Course for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Capstone is a full-year course offered to students in their second year of the program. In this course students apply their existing skills and knowledge of the field to a project initiated by a program partner.
We welcome proposals that offer teams of students (3-4 individuals) the opportunity to produce physical or digital exhibitions, develop educational or public programs, create strategic plans (e.g., emergency preparedness, climate action, interpretive, or accessibility plans), design and implement strategies for enhanced collections care, or contribute to other well-defined projects that support your institution’s mission and operations.
The Faculty of Information provides approximately $1400-$1500 per project, with additional funds available to assist with expenses related to community-engagement activities. We ask partners to provide matching resources, whether as in-kind and/or cash contributions.
Project Proposal Submissions:
* Submit your Capstone project on the Faculty of Information recruitment platform Simplicity by using this link:

Deadline for Project Proposal Submissions is August 11, 2023.
Project selections will be made, and partners notified by August 17, 2023.
Proposals should include:
* A brief description of the project and its desired objectives/outcomes and deliverables
* A designated project liaison
* A timeline for completion within the academic school year (Sept 2023 – April 2024)
* Matching resource contributions (cash or in-kind)
* Opportunities for professional growth and skill development for participating students.
Project proposals will undergo a selection process to ensure a wide range of institutional, disciplinary, and thematic diversity. In our selection, we will consider:
* Partner capacity to meet regularly with students and offer substantive feedback on their progress;
* Students’ ability to access the site either by public transit or by car;
* Feasibility in relation to the proposed timeline of the project.
We particularly encourage applications for community-centered/ community-driven projects, projects developed with an accessibility lens, and projects that center Indigenous methodologies and protocols. We are also interested in opportunities for students to contribute to projects that are new or experimental for your organization.
A Letter of Agreement will be crafted for each successful project confirming resource contributions, expectations for deliverables, and responsibilities, to be reviewed by the organization, participating students, and the Faculty of Information.
