AEBC, Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians, Toronto Chapter, has been given funding for a short four-month COVID 19 Relief project. The first step is to recruit participants for a focus group, then conduct some assistive device training for communication and information access. Please pass on the message below and attached to Toronto-based organizations you think would have input or benefit from this. Thanks a lot for any assistance you can give.

The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians, with funding from The City of Toronto, is conducting consultations with organizations serving the marginalized communities, especially those living with disabilities and most isolated and affected by COVID19. We are interested in hearing from you if you or your networks are having challenges accessing information, lacking social connections or resources needed to stay safe and connected during this pandemic. We also want to hear from you about what you would like to see happen for those with disabilities in your community that would better support their needs in this pandemic.
The findings will contribute to The City of Toronto Relief Project for COVID-19 which will be released in the spring of 2021.

Would you or someone from your organization be able to join us virtually for a focus group, it can be a Board or committee member, staff, or volunteer, someone who is challenged with finding information or resources during this Covid-19 pandemic. There will be a $20 honorarium provided. All participants will be pre-screened for their suitability to participate in a Focus Group. Disability related accommodations will be provided for participants upon request.

The Virtual Focus Group sessions:
Tuesday December 8th 2 - 4 pm and Thursday December 10 7 – 9 pm

If you are interested in participating, please complete and send the attached pre-screening questionnaire via email by November 23rd. Please note that there is limited space available, and you will be contacted if you have been selected for a focus group.  The answers you provide are for demographic reporting, and your name will not be attached to any of our reports. Thank you for your cooperation.
