[community] Notifying users of fixes

When an organization has web site with barriers and obstacles, I imagine users with disabilities may find workarounds or get frustrated and not return to the site, etc. But when the organization fixes those obstacles, has anyone encountered effective ways of communicating those improvements to users?
One option might be to post fixes on a website. Another option might be to let people register for email notifications. Another is to do both. Are there some good role models to learn from?
