Hi Community!

My name is Kay, and I am contacting you all on behalf of Sean Gilmore, one of the PhD students here at the SMART Lab at Ryerson University. Sean has given a talk about his research at OCAD in the past and received some really great feedback and interest, so we're hoping we can find some more interested candidates here :)

I am here today to see if anyone in the Inclusive Community would be interested in taking part in Sean's current PhD project. Please read the information and eligibility criteria below:

As part of Sean's dissertation research we are investigating how populations who identify as Deaf perceive aspects of music through a sense of touch: specifically, we are looking at how they perceive musical rhythms.

Eligibility Criteria
?      You identify as deaf
?      Sign Language is your first language
?      You are at least 18 years old
?      You have no history of traumatic brain injury (e.g. concussions) or neurological disorders (e.g. Parkinson's, Alzheimer's)

?      What? We are researching how our brains process rhythms through the sense of touch. You will sit on a chair that vibrates certain rhythms and will be asked to do tasks such as tapping along. For one task, you will wear an EEG cap which will record your brain's electrical activity. EEG is a safe, widely used technology in neuroscience to study patterns of the brain's engagement.
?      NOTE: you will be asked to remove any headwear or take down your hair (if in bun, ponytail etc.).

?      How long? About 1.5 hours. You will be paid $30.
