Alberta spent $650,000 for 234,000 users for their initial ABTraceTogether
App (out of a population of 4.371 Million ~ 5% of Albertans)
An app they have now abandoned in favor of the Canada Covid Alert App.
"Currently, there are about 234,000 registered users on ABTraceTogether,
according to Alberta Health. The province spent about $650,000 developing
The Canada Covid Alert App development costs will be in the same ball park.
There were hundreds of donated developer hours from Shopify, and before
that Apple/Google, that will not be counted in the metrics.
The larger cost than app development/maintenance is the ongoing marketing
campaign to get people to use the app.
