Good day,

Are  you, or do you know, an applied disability specialist with a strong research background who would like to join our small yet globally impactful team here at the UNESCO Chair headquarters at the new Sports Academy in the beautiful county Kerry on the southwest coast of Ireland?

We are committed to making the world more inclusive and healthy, especially for people with disabilities, through inclusive physical education, sport, recreation and fitness.

As a small team we make our mark through action-oriented partnerships with lead international and regional researchers, sport organisations and federations, disability and other human rights organisations, policy-makers, higher education institutes,  industry bodies and so on...

We're looking for an experienced PhD holder with very strong applied knowledge of physical activity for people with a range of disabilities and chronic conditions, and advanced research skills. Strong research design and English writing skills are essential.

The Successful Candidate will:

  Design and publish high quality research on exercise referral response for populations with disability and chronic conditions.

  Engage in systematic reviews and randomised controlled trials to address current research gaps.

  Work with the Chair team under the direction of the UNESCO Chair Manager to produce high quality research outputs.

 Work on the development of resources for use by physical activity, physical education, sport and exercise

specialists to ensure adherence to best practice when working with individuals with disabilities.

 Actively pursue funding for the research, education and training activities of the Chair via a broad range of national and international funding avenues.

  Peer review documentation as required.

  Assist with the population of a digital repository of resources relevant to the Chair activities.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  Excellent communication skills. English is essential while other languages skills are an advantage.

  Knowledge of the international research, stakeholders and policy influencers in the field.

 A record of postgraduate supervision, international collaboration and funding acquisition.

   A record of research leadership and research management.

  Relevant practical experience in an appropriate discipline area.
