Do not name Headings as "our services" and "our commitment" as someone using an assistive software program like JAWS would not be able to navigate properly. For instance if a person was Blind and they bring up a list of all the headings on your website, they would hear the list of headings. If they know what they are looking for, for example "services", then they could call up the list of headings and enter "s" for services and it would take them to that spot on the list of headings, then hit enter and go there. If you call it "our services" how would someone know to enter "o" to find services? Or "o" to find "commitment" ? Just call it "Services" and "Commitment". Make sure "contact us" is an easy find so that if someone is having a problem they can immediately find a contact person. If it's email link then hyperlink it and make sure there is a subject line already in it so that it doesn't have to be filled in, plus for you as an agency, as soon as you get an email in with the subject line you gave it, you will know automatically that it requires a response as it is from website contact us page.

Hello everyone!
Looking forward to discussing and critiquing some IDRC website work today __ I'm sending out some questions and material in case anyone likes to look at these things ahead of time.
I am hoping to split our hour together with two main chunks:
1. Open discussion around questions such as:
- Who are the people coming to our website?
- What do they come here to do?
- What sorts of problems do they encounter when they try to do these things? (May help to think back to any support requests you’ve received)
- Bonus: Any ideas on how to address these issues?
2. Critiquing a first draft site map
Link here, if you'd like to look in advance: https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1VsW0vB1PF-gQn8fAMmPKRpny3DbhPXLkjBxxycqzDoU/edit?usp=sharing
While this discussion should stay fairly open, if you're someone who likes to have a few questions to guide your feedback, you can consider these:
- What should stay?
- What’s missing?
- What is a potential red flag?
- What are areas for further exploration?
Best,
Cheryl
