Barbara,

You might check with the Older Women’s Network in Toronto. They held a summit of sorts about ‘aging in place’ about a year or so ago. It was attended by contractors, builders, architects, etc. who were all working to make buildings more inclusive. They may be able to point you to a good resource and they may have some input for the women’s shelter too!
