Hello Jutta,

I'm a member of the Art Reference Group committee (ARG) at the Centre For Addictions & Mental Health (CAMH), which provides advisory in relation the arts and mental health care, including educational research. We have a potentially, very unique research opportunity for a thesis student, or students, from the Inclusive Design Research Centre at OCADU, who may be interested in the impact of the arts on mental health and patient experience.

My role on the ARG is to represent Workman Arts, a member-driven, practicing group of artists, with lived experience of mental health issues. I am also an Advisor and jury member in selection of a significant number of new procurements of contemporary artworks to be installed throughout CAMH's new development areas, taking place over the next several years.

The student opportunity would be to conduct research to measure the impact of the placements of new artwork installations on patient experiences, in regards to their well-being and recovery.
This is very timely, as we offer multiple "before & after" senarios, to establish base-lines for observation, data-collection and for measuring outcomes.

In addition, Workman Arts, provides a unique incubator for practium intern students wishing to participate in hands-on, studio-based programs and collaborations with our team of peer-support facilitators, workshops instructors and practicing artists, confronting issues of mental health through multi-disciplinary arts productions and presentations.

Your referral was made to me by my spouse, and your colleague, Michael Page, Principal Investigator for Phase Lab OCADU & Visiting Professor at Institute for Optical Science UofT, as these proposals being potentially, a good fit with the IDRC's program objectives.

I'm including the team in this email, Susan Roman, Project Manager of Development, Dr. Ivan Silver, VP of Education at CAMH and Kelly Straughan, Artistic Director of Workman Arts.

Thank you for your consideration and look forward to your feedback!

Warmly,

Claudette Abrams
