Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a project that Lisa Kelly from SenseAbility told Julia and I about at DEEP. Raise Your Flag is an initiative that aims to provide an alternative to the traditional go-to-school-get-a-job path (https://www.raiseyourflag.com/) it includes a job board where people can come to the site and earn badges through real-life challenges. They can then go through the job listings on the site, which ask for badges rather than traditional qualifications and training, and can apply for jobs if they have the necessary badges. Based on the site it looks like the project is still in it’s infancy but I think it’s a really neat implementation of the skill badge model!
You can also check out this video by Ryan Porter, the founder of Raise Your Flag, at DisruptHR. He brings up some interesting points (like writing job descriptions as if degrees did not exist): https://vimeo.com/156643659
Cheers,
Lisa
